‘Royal Pavilion’ is part of the ‘Brighton Icons’ collection. A series of limited edition art prints numbered 1 to 75 signed by the artist Malcolm Trollope-Davis and produced as an A3 giclee print. The Royal Pavilion, and surrounding gardens, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a Grade I listed former royal residence located in Brighton, England.
 
Malcolm was approached by the Brighton and Hove Tourism Alliance who saw his incredibly detailed hand drawn manuscript style map of Brighton and commissioned an adapted version of it as a permanent large wayfinding map installation, located at the city of Brighton’s main train station in the UK.
 
As part of that project, he was asked to design and introduce to the map design a set of 20 icons describing the wonderful attractions and landmarks that define the city of Brighton. These incredibly popular icon designs have taken off in their own right and are now being used in various locations in and around Brighton.
 
We now offer a design service to have your very own bespoke Brighton Icon designed by Malcolm. Whether it be for your business or including mini portraits of your family, your Brighton Icon can then be added to a location of your choice on your unique Brighton Map art print.

Malcolm Trollope Davis, co-founder of Lewes Map Store, grew up in and around the verdant woodlands of the High Weald of East Sussex, in the UK. Art was calling for him which he studied at college before working professionally, creating images for other people’s imaginations, ranging from instructional and brand illustration through to organic character generation. 

In an age of computers Malcolm prefers to create his work using tangible materials. Using pencil and paper is really important to Malcolm and he has generated lots of sketchbooks rammed with curious characters and inventions as well as local scenes that inspire him. Some pages are created for clients and some for future projects and some even just the old fashioned fun of it!
